Because food is fun

…and therapeutic, exciting, relaxing, fulfilling and a big part of who we are.  All food should be enjoyed, bring comfort, nourishment and pleasure.

Founded by Kye Lockwood and Sarah Sparshott Social Kitchen CIC is an award winning social enterprise, we specialise in food training and enterprise projects that bring together individuals and communities. We give people the skills, knowledge and confidence to make informed choices around food and to achieve their goals.

Every project is unique

and every person that we work with has their own goal. We use a cook and eat model that is adapted and shaped to the needs of each group.

1. IDEAS

We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. We work with your organisation to get to know a group, explore ideas and define their goals.

2. DESIGN

We use these goals to set the outcomes for a course and to design the right mix of accredited and skills based training for the group.

3. DELIVERY

We use a combination of training and monitoring methods to ensure that the goals of individuals and the whole group are achieved.

4. NEXT STEPS

The group use their new skills. We signpost them into further opportunities and explore ideas for new projects and training.

Food brings people together

Sitting down and sharing a meal can be the perfect place to begin a conversation. We use food as a starting point to connect people, break down cultural barriers and address challenging issues.

We work in collaboration with national and local charities, schools, children's centres, social enterprises and local councils. We specialise in customising our training methods to deliver projects that have a lasting impact on the individuals, groups and communities we work with.

Sharing Skills

Through cooking we reach people, share recipes, likes, dislikes, personal stories and memories. We create a sense of achievement, build confidence, increase skills, introduce new experiences and develop interests.

YOUNG PEOPLE

We work with schools and youth projects, providing young people with the skills to cook great food and learn about food enterprise.

FAMILIES

We provide families with the confidence to prepare tasty, nutritious meals. Our courses offer a risk free environment to explore new recipes and share ideas.

DIVERSE GROUPS

Food is a great way of engaging groups which are sometimes considered 'hard to reach'. Our work is always accessible and culturally sensitive.

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS

We help people identify and overcome the challenges of eating well with a specific condition through peer support and sharing recipes.
